Let’s Talk Clean Label

When we started reading the research and pulling apart ingredient labels, we found far too much that didn’t sit right with us.

So we set out to change that, and offer something refreshingly real with Lares. But first, let’s start with why being truly Clean Label matters.

Clean Label

What’s really in your drink?

The truth is, behind the bright colours and long shelf lives, many drinks hide additives behind bright colours and long shelf lives. Some preservatives can form DNA damaging by products in the gut, while artificial colours are linked to hyperactivity in children. Emulsifiers may disrupt the gut lining and microbiome, and even so-called natural drinks often contain synthetic sweeteners or additives disguised as vitamins.

Further studies link these combinations to higher risks of heart disease, type two diabetes, hormone disruption and inflammation. Most people consume dozens of additives often without even realising.

This is just a glimpse of what we uncovered while researching for our clean juices, and a clear reminder of how much still needs to change in the industry. That’s why we keep it simple. No tricks, no fillers, nothing synthetic. Just the good stuff, as it should be.

The Clean Label shift

Clean label is no passing trend. In Europe, the market is set to triple by 2032, and interest keeps rising. Over 80 percent of shoppers say it matters. More than half now prefer natural foods and many will pay more or switch brands for simpler ingredients.

Supermarkets are creating free from aisles and over a third of new food and drink launches already carry a clean label claim. Nearly two in three shoppers rethink a product after reading the label..

Packaging with purpose

A single litre of bottled water can contain over 200,000 microplastics. These tiny particles may reach the liver, kidneys, or brain, where they can trigger inflammation and disrupt hormones.

In contrast, aluminium is the most recycled drink packaging in Europe, with 76 percent of cans reused, all while saving around 95 percent of the energy and emissions needed to make new metal.

That’s why we’ve chosen 100% aluminium cans, not just because they’re lightweight and protect the flavour of our drinks, but because this type of metal can be infinitely recyclable. That means it has the potential to come back again and again, helping to reduce waste and lower energy use.

We also keep plastic to a minimum across our packaging, because less is more. Our multipacks help the planet by reducing packaging and shipping emissions. Buying more, less often, means less waste.

Lares’s purpose towards a Clean Label world

Purpose means everything to us, and that’s why health and sustainability sit at the heart of what we do. We’re here to raise awareness, bit by bit, and help build a world where Clean Label becomes the standard. At Lares, we’re making the changes, and we’re grateful for your support along the way.

And yes, doing good can taste good, too!
